100 Pets and the People They Love Project-2013

100 Pets and the People They Love Project-2013.

Things I Am Learning Along the Way…and Outtakes

So far I am finding people very open to my project and being approached to have a photo taken with their best friend but I am learning some things along the way like asking people to put their poop bags down before I take the photo :). It’s so nice to meet considerate people who pick up after their dogs but I have to remember to ask them to put it down first, especially when the first shots I take seem to be my favorites. Also taking a photo at the beginning of an exuberant puppy’s walk probably isn’t the best idea either when the last thing they want to do is sit still when there are so many dogs to say hello to and play with. Having all four of my dogs with me when people have treats in their pockets to get their dogs to sit still isn’t very helpful either when my dogs end up mauling the poor owner. My Bella and Buddha in particular are incredibly food obsessed; Bella would probably chew a whole in their pocket to get at cookies if allowed. You would swear I don’t ever feed them…poor starving creatures! Here are some outtake shots from Monday. I can’t wait to meet more people and their pets. Don’t forget to jump over to my Project Page to meet Naboo and Lex. Meanwhile…here are some extra shots. Cheers! Sheila

Where to find photos…

My 100 Pets and The people They Love photos can be found under that heading title. So sorry for the confusion with my posts not going to the home page. I will figure this out 🙂 meanwhile enjoy my first two Stranger Pets (hmmm…not sure how I’ll refer to my wonderful participants yet…probably not that way). Cheers! Sheila

Happy New Year! My Photography Project is underway…

Wishing everyone a very Happy 2013!  I thought I would dive right in to my 100 Pets and the People They Love photography project so off I went on my walk to Ravencrest with my dogs this morning full of enthusiasm.  Well, we had a great walk, beautiful sunshine and not to cold but…not a stranger in sight, just peace and quiet.  I was a little disheartened so I took three of my dogs out again later in the afternoon to Sheep River Cove.  Jackpot! I ran into some wonderful dogs and their people who graciously let me photograph them.  I have to say I was more than a little nervous and didn’t ask everything I really wanted to or probably took as much time as I could with the photos but I had a great chat with both groups and left our walk feeling pretty pumped about my project.  It was fun trying to get shots of a bouncy, full of beans puppy, she really just wanted to play with my dogs. All in all a great start to 2013.

Opening Day!

Hello out there…everyone…anyone!! I am so excited to finally publish my first post on this blog! I have been thinking about doing this for some time and although I am sure the content will evolve as I find my way around the blogging world I have a few things that I want to share with you.  The first is my love of photography and in particular photography of pets and the people they love.  Secondly, I am excited to share my new photography project for 2013,and now that I am telling everyone about it there is no turning back. It is my take on a 100 Strangers Photography Project and my plan is to photograph 100 pets and their people (all strangers to me) over the course of the year.  I am very excited about the prospect of this project and I know I will grow as a photographer and an individual along the way with I’m sure more than a few surprises.  I hope I will be able to share some of our adventures in the woods while out on dog walks.  There is really never a dull moment around here with four crazy Tibetan Terriers in house.

Please stop by often and take a look around.  I can’t wait to add links, badges, widgets (whatever they are) and more posts and photos.  Cheers! Sheila
